The Basterfield M30300(120-1800x0900x500) Pig Scalding Tank for Medium Pigs is a heavy-duty stainless steel scalding bath designed for commercial abattoir, meat processing and pork production environments. Manufactured from 2mm thick Grade 304 stainless steel, the unit provides robust corrosion resistance, hygienic cleanability and long-term durability in demanding wet processing areas. The tank is designed to provide an effective heated scalding bath for medium pigs, assisting with the loosening of hair prior to dehairing or further processing. The stainless steel construction, radiused internal surfaces and removable components support routine washdown and hygiene control in regulated food production facilities.
The tank is manufactured with internal tank dimensions of 1800mm (L) x 900mm (W) x 500mm (D), providing a substantial scalding volume suitable for medium pig carcasses. Heating is provided by 27kW immersion elements, operating on a 3-phase 380V electrical supply. The elements are protected below removable heavy-duty perforated support grids, allowing the carcass to be supported within the bath whilst reducing the risk of direct contact with the heating elements. A thermostatic control system provides adjustable temperature regulation from 0–110°C, enabling operators to set and maintain the required scalding temperature for the process.
The unit includes a water inlet and water outlet control arrangement, with a Ø1½” BSP ball valve provided for controlled filling, draining and process water management. The removable perforated grids allow for cleaning access to the tank base and heating element area, supporting maintenance and hygiene procedures. This model is supplied as a scalding bath only and does not include rotating devices, lifting equipment or hoists, which may be specified separately where required. The M30300 is suitable for abattoirs, butcheries, meat processing plants, farm slaughter facilities and commercial pork production operations requiring a durable stainless steel scalding solution.
